England's national football team thrashed local side Miami 6-0 in a closed-door training friendly on Thursday during their pre-World Cup camp in West Palm Beach.

Striker Ivan Toney netted a hat-trick as manager Thomas Tuchel fine-tuned his squad ahead of the tournament.

The match followed England's official 3-0 win over Costa Rica in Orlando.

It was split into two 25-minute halves and did not feature regular starters like Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and Declan Rice.

England scored once in the first half and added five more after the break.

Alongside Toney's treble, Jordan Henderson, Arsenal teenager Ethan Nwaneri, and 17-year-old Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha also found the net.

Neither Nwaneri nor Ngumoha are part of the final 26-man World Cup squad.

Tuchel's Flexible Approach Praised

The training session ended with an impromptu penalty shootout requested by England.

Miami assistant coach Victor Lonchuk, who also serves as Puerto Rico's assistant manager, praised Tuchel's accommodating approach.

Lonchuk noted that Tuchel allowed Miami to use any tactical setup they wanted, a gesture he said is rare when facing elite international teams.

"The whole situation was different and it was fantastic," Lonchuk told The Athletic.

"At the beginning of the game, he said: 'Play in any shape you guys want with any game model.

We just want to see what we can do against you.'"

Tuchel also showed respect by letting the local coaching staff handle their players directly. "At the end of the game, he was fantastic," Lonchuk added.
