Jordan Fights Back

Jordan, making its historic first appearance on the World Cup stage after securing qualification on June 5, 2025, pushed back strongly despite trailing early in the first half.

The debutants created several dangerous opportunities, including a header from forward Ali Olwan that struck the crossbar and a blocked attempt by Musa Tamari during four minutes of stoppage time.

Austrian goalkeeper Alexander Schlager preserved the advantage for his side by diving to parry away a dangerous shot from Jordan's Odeh Al-Fakhouri without conceding a rebound.

"It will not be an easy game, they will want to be dangerous on the counter," said Ralf Rangnick, Head Coach of Austria.
