The Los Angeles Dodgers activated versatile utility player Tommy Edman from the 60-day injured list on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, ahead of their game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Edman had been sidelined all season after undergoing surgery on his right ankle in November.

The injury dated back nearly two years to a sprain during a rehab assignment with the St. Louis Cardinals.

To clear a spot on the active roster, the Dodgers designated veteran infielder Santiago Espinal for assignment.

Espinal later cleared waivers and elected free agency on Thursday, June 18, according to the MLB. com transaction log.

Edman completed his rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City over the weekend.

He made his season debut on Friday, June 19, going 3-for-5 with a double in a 6-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed the activation on Monday.

He said the team will monitor Edman's workload, starting him three to four times a week across second base, third base, and left field.

"It's been a few years just nagging, and you know, even with the surgery, they were still kind of trying to get over the hump with feeling good," Roberts said before Monday's 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Roberts noted that Edman's versatility allows the team to rest other starters, especially while awaiting the return of outfielder Teoscar Hernández from a left hamstring strain.
