The Indiana Fever turned a nine-minute scoring drought in the first quarter into a dominant 84-69 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

After trailing 19-6 at the end of the opening period, the Fever erupted for 35 points in the second quarter to tie the game at halftime.

Caitlin Clark sparked the comeback with 15 points in the second quarter alone, including an early three-pointer that ignited an 8-0 run.

The Fever carried that momentum into the third quarter, outscoring the Mercury 30-11 to build a 16-point lead.

Kelsey Mitchell led the third-quarter surge and finished with 20 points for the game. Aliyah Boston and Monique Billings also contributed key plays inside.

Physical altercations mar final period

The game's intensity boiled over in the fourth quarter when a physical altercation near the basket involved Phoenix forward DeWanna Bonner and Indiana guard Caitlin Clark.

Several players joined the scuffle.

Technical fouls were assessed to Bonner, Clark, Sophie Cunningham, Myisha Hines-Allen of Indiana, and Alyssa Thomas of Phoenix.

On the next play, officials ejected Hines-Allen from the contest, marking a highly disciplinary sequence.

According to IndyStar, the technical foul was Clark's fifth of the season, leaving her three infractions away from an automatic one-game suspension.
