The Pittsburgh Penguins moved up in the 2026 NHL Draft on Saturday to select defenseman Parker Von Richter with the 111th overall pick.
The 20-year-old right-handed blueliner was taken in the fourth round after the Penguins acquired the selection from the Boston Bruins.

In exchange, Pittsburgh sent a 2026 sixth-round pick (170th overall) and a 2027 fourth-round pick originally belonging to Winnipeg to Boston.
Scouting Report and Career Stats
Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing between 185 and 205 pounds, Von Richter split the recent Ontario Hockey League season between the Brampton Steelheads and the Barrie Colts.
He recorded 12 goals and 37 assists in 66 regular-season games, then added 14 points in 21 playoff contests.

He cuts off breakouts in the neutral zone, before quickly transitioning play up the other way."
The scouting report also noted his clean retrievals and breakouts, as well as his tendency to join the rush and open lanes.
Over 259 career OHL games across four seasons with Mississauga, Brampton, and Barrie, Von Richter compiled 25 goals, 94 assists, and 124 penalty minutes.
He had been passed over in both the 2024 and 2025 NHL Drafts before Pittsburgh selected him.

Von Richter is committed to attend the University of New Hampshire for the 2026-27 season, giving the Penguins a four-year window to monitor his development.
