Texas-based travel center chain Buc-ee's has opened its first Arizona location in Goodyear, marking its westernmost outpost to date.

The 74,000-square-foot facility began operations on Monday, June 22, 2026, operating 24 hours a day.

The new travel center features 120 fueling stations and is expected to generate more than 200 jobs for the local community.

Goodyear city officials projected that as many as 40,000 vehicles would visit the location during its opening day and the following week.

Founded in 1982, Buc-ee's now operates 56 locations across 13 states.

The Goodyear site is positioned to serve commuters and travelers moving through the Phoenix metropolitan area toward neighboring regions.

Strategic Location and Local Impact

"We could not have picked a better location for our first store in the Grand Canyon State," said Stan Beard, Buc-ee's director of real estate development.

"Perfectly placed for our road-trippers headed out to California or coming in for the destination-rich Phoenix area, Goodyear will be the place to stop."

The store's debut caused significant local traffic adjustments.

The city of Goodyear established a 6.5-mile designated travel route utilizing Bullard Avenue off Interstate 10, with local law enforcement deployed to manage congestion heading into the parking lot.

On opening day, regular gasoline was priced at $3.85 per gallon and diesel at $4.49 per gallon, aligning with regional membership-club pricing.

The location also offers branded merchandise featuring Arizona-specific themes alongside standard food items like chopped brisket sandwiches and beef jerky.

As part of its broader corporate expansion strategy, Buc-ee's has outlined a pipeline of 15 additional travel centers.
