Severe storms and flash flooding swept through central and southeastern Kentucky on Saturday, June 27, 2026, destroying a church building and claiming four lives.

The Million Bible Church was completely swept off its foundations by the deluge. Heavy rainfall and surging floodwaters carried the structure onto a nearby roadway.

Visual documentation captured by Aaron Troy Pyzik showed the leveled church building resting near a creek, with part of its roof hanging over the water.

State of Emergency Declared

The National Weather Service forecast continued flash flooding for parts of central and southeastern Kentucky, as well as areas of Indiana, through Sunday night.

Governor Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency following the disaster. According to the governor, the flooding caused three deaths in Madison County and one in Jackson County.
