Rotterdam Mayor Carola Schouten married her partner Coert on June 28, 2026, in a ceremony officiated by Dutch journalist and television presenter Sander de Kramer.
De Kramer, who shares a close relationship with the mayor and her husband, served as the wedding officiant for the couple.
He shared details regarding the long-standing history of the newlyweds, noting that their relationship dates back to their days as students.
Despite knowing each other for decades, De Kramer revealed that the romantic connection between Schouten and Coert only developed a few years ago.
He also hinted at an unusual competitor or challenger who briefly appeared during their courtship journey.
"It is of course fantastic to be allowed to marry the mayor. How often do you get to experience that?"
said Sander de Kramer.
De Kramer further expressed his deep appreciation for the couple, emphasizing that both the Rotterdam mayor and her new husband are highly amiable individuals.
"She is a very nice person, and Coert too, her husband," he added.
