A severe storm has destroyed the roof and sails of the historic Zilster windmill in Veldhoven, Netherlands, during Saturday night.
The entire upper structure crashed down, leaving debris scattered on the ground by early Sunday morning.

The collapse also damaged nearby houses and cars, according to Omroep Brabant. The windmill, originally built in 1858, is a heritage monument.
Owner Determined to Restore
Mill owner Janus Kerkhofs expressed shock upon seeing the damage. He is now in discussions with his insurance provider about the restoration.

"I am currently in talks with the insurer, but the intention is really to have the mill restored," Kerkhofs said.

He added, "And I am sure that is possible. Mills can always be restored."
