Former Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has confirmed that Max Verstappen's contract includes a performance-related exit clause, following a challenging start to the 2026 Formula 1 season.

Verstappen has managed only one podium finish in the first seven race weekends, fueling speculation about his future with the team.

According to reports, the clause allows Verstappen to leave Red Bull if team performance drops below a certain threshold.

"All top drivers have performance-related exit clauses in their contracts," Marko said. "I assume discussions are currently taking place."

Marko emphasized that competitiveness is Verstappen's top priority, and he wants a swift resolution to the situation.
