Langley Township's free family Canada Day event will once again feature a traditional fireworks display on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, after a two-year hiatus during which lighted drones were used.

The annual celebration takes place at McLeod Athletic Park, 5678 216 St., from noon to 10:30 p.

Organizers have added a large shade tent and several smaller covered structures to protect attendees from the sun.

Kevin Muirhead, manager of parks services and events for the Township, said the overall event structure remains largely unchanged from last year, with only minor adjustments.

"There will be a lot more shade on site this year," he noted.

The return of fireworks follows a policy shift by local lawmakers.

Township council voted last year to reinstate fireworks instead of the drone technology used in the previous two celebrations.

The 15-minute closing fireworks show will begin at 10:15 p. m.

Other attractions include a Kids Zone with bouncy castles and a rock wall, a Family Fun Hub featuring face painting and mini-golf, local artisan stalls, and a food truck zone.

Last year, the event drew between 20,000 and 25,000 visitors.
