Inchcape Australasia and Stellantis have mutually agreed to end their Peugeot distribution partnership in Australia, following years of poor sales performance.

The decision comes after Peugeot sold just 373 units in the first five months of 2026, a 35% decline compared to the same period last year.

Sales Decline and Market Challenges

Peugeot's sales have been in a multi-year freefall, dropping 29% in 2025 after a 25% slide in 2024.

The brand's peak in Australia was 8,807 units in 2007, a figure it has not come close to since.

The Partner van accounted for 43% of Peugeot's local sales, outselling the entire passenger car range including the 308 hatch, 408 fastback, and several SUVs.

Inchcape previously dropped Citroen from Australia in 2024 after the brand was outsold locally by Ferrari.

Stellantis has confirmed that Peugeot will continue in Australia and will provide updates on its local plans in due course.

Inchcape said it is working with Stellantis to ensure a smooth transition, focusing on supporting customers, dealers, and partners.

The importer will continue to support warranty and servicing through a transitional period, with the final date for the split yet to be announced.

Inchcape now distributes Subaru, Deepal, and Foton in Australia.

It remains unclear whether Peugeot will find another independent distributor or join Stellantis Australia's stable alongside Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Jeep, and Leapmotor.
