Manchester United Women have completed the signing of Spanish defender Andrea Medina as their first acquisition of the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old full-back has agreed to a three-year contract, with the club holding an option to extend for a further season.

Born in Seville, Medina arrives in England after a successful four-year spell with Atlético Madrid.

During her time at the Spanish club, she made over 100 appearances across all competitions.

Before joining Atlético Madrid, Medina developed through the youth academy at Real Betis. Her impressive performances earned her a place in the senior team at Betis.

On the international stage, Medina has represented Spain at various youth levels up to the under-23 team.

She has won two UEFA Women's Under-19 Championships and a FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup.

After completing the move, Medina expressed her excitement about joining Manchester United.

"Manchester United has an incredible history, and I am excited to join a team that is determined to write its own chapter at one of the most important clubs in the world," she said.

Reflecting on her experience playing against United last season, Medina noted the team's strength and fan support.

"Competing against United last season showed me how strong the group is and just how much this club means to our supporters.

The passion from everyone who travelled over to Madrid was unbelievable," she added.

Medina also emphasized her readiness for the challenges of the English game.
