Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody has shared details about the band's new collaborative single with Kylie Minogue, revealing that the track was always intended for the pop icon.
In an interview with BBC Radio Ulster's Good Morning Ulster program published on July 2, 2026, Lightbody explained that he composed several songs specifically for Minogue after learning she was seeking new material.

"When I heard that Kylie was looking for a song, I wrote her a bunch, but then I couldn't get them to her," Lightbody said.
The working titles for the tracks were simply "Kylie 1, Kylie 2, Kylie 3," he noted.
A Long-Awaited Collaboration
The band eventually decided to record one of the selections themselves, keeping the internal title "Kylie" throughout production before successfully sending the completed track to Minogue.
"It turns out she loved it and then she sang on it," Lightbody said.
He praised Minogue's vocal contribution, stating that the song felt finished for the first time after she added her parts remotely with her own producer.
"Her vocal is absolutely extraordinary," he added.
Lightbody expressed admiration for Minogue's artistic longevity and her willingness to evolve her musical style over the decades.
"I guess it was always destined to be a song, maybe not for Kylie, but with Kylie," he said.
