Diallo saved three set points in the fourth-set tiebreak to force a deciding set, but Sonego broke early to lead 3-1.

Although Diallo broke back in the fifth game, Sonego immediately broke again to go up 4-2 and added another break to close out the set 6-2.

The six-foot-eight-inch Canadian finished with 11 aces and six double faults, converting three of five break points.

Sonego converted four of nine break chances.
