The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) has reportedly narrowed its search for a new head coach to two names: Erik ten Hag and Arne Slot.

The move comes after Ronald Koeman resigned following the Netherlands' early exit from the World Cup.

According to Italian transfer journalist Nicolò Schira, the KNVB is focusing exclusively on Ten Hag and Slot.

Other potential candidates, such as Peter Bosz and Michael Reiziger, are not being considered.

Koeman stepped down after the Netherlands lost to Morocco in a penalty shootout during the round of 16.

He rejected a contract extension, prompting the KNVB to begin its search.

Ten Hag currently serves as technical director at FC Twente in the Eredivisie. Slot is unattached after leaving Liverpool earlier this year.

Schira's report corrects earlier speculation that Koeman would not resign voluntarily.

The journalist had previously suggested the KNVB would decide Koeman's future, but the coach made the decision himself.
