The 2026 Calgary Stampede celebrations have officially started with the return of traditional community pancake breakfasts across Calgary and the Foothills region.
The festivities began on July 2, 2026, with the annual First Flip Breakfast on Stephen Avenue, marking the ceremonial start for locals and tourists arriving for the exhibition.

Community Events and Fundraising
According to CityNews Calgary, the central event on Stephen Avenue drew crowds and set the tone for the 10-day Stampede, which runs from July 3 to July 12, 2026.
Local businesses, churches, and civic organizations in Okotoks and nearby towns are hosting multi-day breakfast schedules, as reported by the Western Wheel.
RE/MAX Complete Realty kicked off the regional lineup on July 2, followed by a collaborative fundraiser at Hub Town Brewing on July 3 to support the Okotoks Food Bank.

Community gatherings will peak over the opening weekend, with events at the Okotoks Evangelical Free Church, Foothills Energy Co-op, and Riverbend Campground.
The 10FOLD Regional Field House is also hosting its fifth annual Foothills Family Expo, featuring a market alongside traditional breakfast offerings.

Organizers noted that while most breakfasts remain free, many locations are collecting non-perishable food items and financial donations for local charities, including the Rowan House Society and youth golf programs.
