The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled an alleged attempt by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to push ten individuals into Bangladeshi territory through the Lathitila-Kachurgul border in Juri upazila, Moulvibazar.

According to the BGB, the group comprised two men, seven women, and one child. The confrontation occurred throughout the day before the individuals eventually returned to Indian territory.

Heightened Security Measures

Following the incident, security has been intensified along the Juri and Barlekha borders in Moulvibazar district.

The BGB has stepped up patrols, increased surveillance, and enhanced intelligence activities in the area.

Lt Col Ataur Rahman, commander of the Beanibazar Battalion (52 BGB), stated that the Indian border force has persisted in trying to push people illegally into Bangladesh.

He noted that these actions involve new tactics, including informants, local brokers, and specific networks operating along the border.

Rahman emphasized a "zero tolerance" policy, asserting that the border guards remain alert and proactive in safeguarding the country's sovereignty and border security.

He also alleged that some local residents have been cooperating with these push-in attempts, warning that the BGB will take strict action against anyone found involved.
