Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka has taken control of her Wimbledon third-round match against Daria Kasatkina, winning the first set 6-1 and breaking early in the second set.

The 14th seed needed just 27 minutes to claim the opening set, hitting 11 winners and losing only five points on her serve.

Osaka continued her momentum into the second set, securing a crucial break to lead 4-3 against the Australian opponent.

"Come on!"

Osaka exclaimed as she pressed her advantage on Centre Court at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Friday, July 3, 2026.

The former world number one reached the round of 32 by defeating Elsa Jacquemot in the first round and Anastasia Gasanova in straight sets in the second round.

Before the match, Osaka made a fashion statement, arriving on court wearing a veiled skirt and an oversized jacket.

Osaka entered the match with a perfect 3-0 head-to-head record against Kasatkina, including a three-set victory at the 2025 US Open.

Other day-five action at Wimbledon included Novak Djokovic facing Arthur Rinderknech, while top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka and defending champion Jannik Sinner were scheduled to compete later.

In the men's doubles draw, British defending champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool advanced to the third round.
