Ford's upcoming $30,000 electric truck has been spotted testing in Dearborn, Michigan, and new spy photos reveal just how small the compact pickup really is.

The camouflaged prototype was seen alongside a Ford Expedition Max, a full-size SUV that towers over the EV.

At 221.9 inches long and 78 inches tall, the Expedition Max makes the electric truck look like a car with a bed attached.

The EV's low roofline barely clears the Expedition's shoulder line, highlighting its compact dimensions.

Aerodynamics Drive Design

The low profile is no accident. Ford's designers focused heavily on aerodynamic efficiency to maximize range with a smaller, lighter battery.

According to the company, adding just 1 mm to the roof height would cost $1.30 more in battery or reduce range by 0.055 miles.

Beyond the low roof, the truck features a steeply raked windshield, small mirrors, low-resistance Michelin E Primacy tires, an integrated roof spoiler, and 19-inch cross-shaped aero wheel covers.

Ford claims these measures result in 15% better aerodynamics than any other pickup on the market, including the similarly sized Maverick.

The prototype's front end is heavily camouflaged, but the production version is expected to have a lower, more rounded nose.

The droopy headlights hint at design cues from the 1950s second-gen F-Series, though they could be placeholder units.

Inside, a large free-standing infotainment display dominates the dashboard. The camouflage wrap features playful graphics including a dog, sailboat, soccer ball, heart, flower, and motorcycle.
