President Donald Trump faces intense scrutiny after financial disclosures revealed he earned approximately $2.2 billion from cryptocurrency ventures, drawing criticism over widespread investor losses and unusual international arrangements.
Reports indicate a substantial portion came from his family's crypto businesses, including $1.4 billion from World Liberty Financial and $635 million in royalties from the $TRUMP memecoin.

An investment firm tied to the United Arab Emirates purchased nearly half of the family's main crypto firm in 2025.
According to a Wall Street Journal report cited by investor Ross Gerber, roughly 1.48 million digital wallets that bought the $TRUMP memecoin are holding unrealized losses.
Data also showed 85 percent of secondary-market buyers for World Liberty Financial's token remain underwater after the memecoin's market capitalization collapsed by 97 percent from $15 billion to $408 million.
"Nobody who voted for Donald Trump — a guy with skyscrapers with his name on it, with a plane that has his name on it — is suspect of him making money," said Joe Borelli, former New York City Council Republican leader and managing director of Chartwell Strategy Group.
Borelli told CNN that the president built his career talking about his wealth, explaining why his core MAGA base has largely stayed quiet about the personal haul.

"Over 1 million people lost money on the trump crypto rug pull," said Ross Gerber, CEO of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth and Investment Management.
He previously labeled the earnings a grift that undermined confidence in Bitcoin and generated negative sentiment across the broader digital asset market.
International Policy Concerns
The controversy extends to international diplomacy.
Al Jazeera reported that Pakistan's Ministry of Finance signed an exploratory memorandum of understanding in January to use World Liberty Financial's dollar-pegged USD1 stablecoin.
No pilot projects or transactions have occurred six months later.

Analysts note the deal provided Islamabad rare access to the Trump administration, including a White House lunch for Pakistani army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and a subsequent Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Trump.
