In a 2024 interview with People Magazine, Sharapova explained the decision to delay their celebration.

“We were going to have a big wedding, and then I got pregnant, and so we haven't scheduled a new wedding yet,” she said.

The former world No. 1 emphasized that the couple is not in a hurry.

“Not in a rush,” she stated, adding that she expects the wedding to take place “in the next couple of years.”

Sharapova and Gilkes began dating in 2018 and announced their engagement on social media in December 2020.
