Comedian Tiffany Haddish took aim at President Donald Trump during her guest-hosting stint on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
on Monday, July 6, 2026, mocking his reported intervention in a FIFA World Cup suspension and the sparse crowds at a recent White House event.
Haddish, filling in for regular host Jimmy Kimmel, addressed claims that Trump personally called FIFA President Gianni Infantino to overturn a red card given to US player Folarin Balogun.
“One of our star players was supposed to be suspended from tonight’s game, but Donald Trump personally called the head of Fifa to get the player reinstated,” Haddish said.
She then highlighted the irony of the president’s sudden interest in soccer.
“Which is surprising, because Trump doesn’t know anything about soccer, and it’s the first time he’s ever defended a Black person!”
she joked.
The audience reacted as Haddish continued, teasing, “He’s growing, y’all. He’s growing!
I’m so proud of him.”
Trump had earlier addressed the situation from the Oval Office, saying he requested a review but did not influence the final decision.
The US team later lost 4-1 to Belgium.
“Thank you to Fifa for doing what was right and reversing a great injustice,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
State Fair Crowd Size Mocked
Haddish also turned her attention to the Great American State Fair at the National Mall, highlighting logistical issues despite official claims of success.
“Trump said the event was going to be, and I quote, ‘packed to the brim.’ Well, let’s see how that worked out for him,” she said.
The show aired footage showing empty areas at the venue over the holiday weekend.
“Imma be honest with y’all, there was more people at my bat mitzvah,” Haddish joked.
She then referenced her past legal troubles: “Imma be real honest with you, there was more people at my DUI trial.”
Trump defended the event on social media, asking if his predecessors could have organized a similar function.
“Do you think people appreciate what a fantastic job we did in building and operating the Great American State Fair at the National Mall, packed with happy people, and everybody loving it?”
he wrote.
He added, “Ask yourself this simple question, ‘DO YOU THINK THAT OBUMA OR SLEEPY JOE BIDEN COULD HAVE DONE IT?’
THE ANSWER IS NO!”
Taylor Swift Wedding Snub
Shifting topics, Haddish lamented not being invited to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, which drew numerous celebrities.
“How can someone look this good and not get invited to the Taylor Swift wedding?” she asked.
She listed attendees including Brad Pitt, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Hanks, Paul McCartney, Steven Spielberg, and a member of Fall Out Boy, before singling out George Stephanopoulos.
“They had every famous person on Earth. ...
I mean, no offense to George Stephanopoulos, but why the f** did they invite George Stephanopoulos?!” she added.
Haddish joked about her role among the guests: “All those sexy men in tuxedos and no Tiffany to make them feel beautiful.
That's my job, to make men feel beautiful.”
She then addressed Swift directly on camera, saying, “Taylor, I’m sure there’s a good explanation. I probably just have the wrong email address.”
