Major British political parties have announced they will boycott the upcoming by-election for Nigel Farage's vacated parliamentary seat in Clacton on July 7, 2026.

The political rivals stated they refuse to participate in what they characterize as a farce.

The decision follows a television address by the Reform UK leader, who is currently facing an investigation into his personal finances.

Farage denied any wrongdoing before announcing his resignation and immediate intention to run for reelection in the same district.

The right-wing populist politician maintained that seeking a new mandate from his constituents is the only definitive way to resolve the ongoing controversy surrounding the financial probe.

"De bevolking van Clacton moet maar een oordeel vellen over mijn acties," said Farage.

He further described the unexpected vote as a direct challenge to the political establishment in the United Kingdom.

"Een kans om een middelvinger op te steken naar de hele gevestigde orde," said Farage.

The ruling Labour Party, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, firmly rejected participating in the Clacton contest, where Farage holds significant local support.

A party spokesperson told the BBC that Farage is desperately attempting to alter the political narrative amid intense financial scrutiny.

"Dit is zielig, en Labour zal er niet in meegaan," said a Labour Party Spokesperson.

The Conservative Party, under the leadership of Kemi Badenoch, similarly confirmed they will not field an opposing candidate.
