While representatives have not commented on the tremors, doctors note that type 2 diabetes can cause such symptoms.

Diagnosis and Lifestyle Changes

Hanks revealed on The Late Show with David Letterman that he had elevated blood sugar for decades before his official diagnosis in 2013.

He recalled his doctor telling him: "You've got Type 2 diabetes, young man."

The actor expressed regret over his early dietary habits, calling himself part of the "lazy American generation."

"I thought I could avoid it by removing the buns from my cheeseburgers," Hanks said.

Despite extreme weight fluctuations for roles in films like A League of Their Own and Cast Away, Hanks reported significant health improvements at age 68.

He credited regular exercise, proper nutrition, and fewer parental responsibilities for his better shape.

"Because my kids are grown up, I'm getting decent exercise, and I can eat right," Hanks said.
