NASCAR has cleared the race vehicles of Denny Hamlin and Alex Bowman after thorough technical inspections at the sport's Research and Development Center.

The inspections followed the Cup Series event at Chicagoland Speedway on July 8, 2026.

Officials confirmed that neither the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driven by Hamlin nor the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driven by Bowman received any penalties.

The deep inspection was prompted by Bowman's fifth-place finish and Hamlin's strong performance during the Chicagoland race.

No Penalties for Either Driver

NASCAR found no technical issues or rule infractions during the deeper inspections at the R&D Center.

The clean bill of health prevents potentially devastating penalties, as teams in the NextGen car era have previously been stripped of over 100 points when inspectors uncovered technical infractions at the facility.

Hamlin maintains his lead in the regular-season point standings with a 44-point advantage over Tyler Reddick.

That gives the Joe Gibbs Racing organization momentum with seven races remaining before the postseason.

Bowman remains in 29th place in the point standings and faces a 145-point deficit to the Chase playoff bubble.

Hendrick Motorsports continues chasing its first victory of the 2026 season.

Both race teams are scheduled to transport their cleared fleets to EchoPark Speedway for the next round of the NASCAR regular season.
