England's strategic decision to base themselves in Kansas City has resulted in an unprecedented travel burden during the World Cup.

As reported by The Guardian, the squad faces far greater travel fatigue than any rival team.

Thomas Tuchel's men averaged approximately 1,842 miles across their opening five matches.

This extensive journey is comparable to flying from London to Lisbon and back, creating an unexpected physical challenge for the squad.

The Football Association intentionally selected a central location to limit flight times to various fixtures.

However, this setup guaranteed a minimum round trip of 670 miles for every game, measuring straight lines between cities.

Massive round trips to venues like Foxborough, East Rutherford, and Mexico City each exceeded 1,100 miles each way.

Consequently, England's average round trip alone exceeds the entire total distance covered by France so far.

Logistical Differences Between Teams

England played all five opening matches in completely different locations, making Miami Gardens their sixth distinct venue when they face Norway in the upcoming quarter-final.

In contrast, Norway approached the multi-venue logistics by remaining in Greensboro for the group stage.

They only started moving from city to city after advancing to the knockout phase.

This tactical difference means Norway enters the quarter-final matchup having logged over 3,000 fewer miles than England.

Such a stark contrast highlights the potential physical toll on the English players. Other tournament contenders also optimized their base camps with better foresight.
