Sam Neill's family has confirmed that the actor died from pneumonia, according to a statement from his long-time representative.

Neill, 78, had recently shared that he was cancer-free after being diagnosed with stage three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma in 2022.
He underwent CAR-T therapy to fight the disease.
His representative, Philip Grenz, said Neill remained active in film projects and managed his winery, Two Paddocks, in the year before his death.
Grenz noted that Neill valued his privacy, which is why his funeral will be a private memorial at his farm in New Zealand.
