Cathay Pacific has announced plans to launch cargo flights to Astana in August 2026 and passenger services on the Hong Kong–Almaty route starting January 2027.
The announcement was made during a meeting between Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chair of Kazakhstan's Civil Aviation Committee, and Oliver Coelho, Cathay's Regional Manager for the Middle East.

Flight Details
Starting August 1, 2026, Cathay Pacific will operate up to five weekly cargo flights to Astana using Boeing 747 aircraft.
From January 2027, the airline will commence regular passenger flights to Almaty with a frequency of three flights per week on Airbus A330 aircraft.
Tompiyeva expressed Kazakhstan's commitment to supporting these new routes, highlighting the importance of collaboration with Cathay Pacific.
Both parties agreed to continue working together to ensure the successful implementation of the flights.

The Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport stated that the initiative aims to enhance international air connectivity and welcome foreign airlines.
The new services are expected to bolster trade, tourism, and economic relations between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong.
Cathay Pacific is a prominent Asian airline with a fleet of approximately 237 aircraft, serving over 100 destinations globally.
Its cargo division, Cathay Cargo, operates to 41 destinations and handles more than 1.67 million tons of cargo annually.
