The 51st edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will showcase a star-studded lineup of world premieres, including films starring Helen Mirren, Seth Rogen, Chris Rock, and Courteney Cox.
The festival runs from September 10 to 20.
High-Profile Premieres and Returning Directors
Helen Mirren stars alongside Alden Ehrenreich in A Talent for Murder, a thriller directed by Anton Corbijn.
Ehrenreich plays a literary agent sent to Switzerland to persuade author Patricia Highsmith to write another Ripley novel.
Seth Rogen appears with Anna Kendrick in Babies, a comedy-drama written and directed by Lauren Miller Rogen.
The cast includes Issa Rae, Kate Berlant, and Sharon Stone, following a childless couple caring for a three-year-old when a divorced friend moves in.
Chris Rock returns as writer-director of the A24 comedy Misty Green, set in Hollywood.
The film stars Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick, and Rosalind Eleazar, centering on a director offering a comeback role to an actor whose career suffered from personal vices.
Peter Farrelly directs I Play Rocky, a drama about the making of Sylvester Stallone's Oscar-winning film, with Anthony Ippolito portraying Stallone.
Farrelly previously won a best picture Oscar after Green Book premiered at Toronto.
Courteney Cox presents her second directorial effort, Evil Genius, a crime thriller inspired by the Pizza Bomber true crime docuseries.
The film stars Patricia Arquette and David Harbour.
Cox described it as "stranger than fiction," blending dark humor with emotional depth, exploring love, loneliness, manipulation, and people drawn into something larger than themselves.
Rebel Wilson premieres Girl Group, following a singer removed from her group's reunion tour who attempts a comeback by joining a younger teenage group.
The cast includes Jennifer Coolidge, Sheridan Smith, Melanie C, and Nicole Scherzinger.
John Madden brings Onwards and Sideways to the festival, featuring Laura Linney and Rhys Ifans as two individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease on the same day.
Additional premieres include the comedy thriller Everybody Wants to Fuck Me starring Taron Egerton, prison drama The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd starring Amanda Seyfried, and supernatural drama Faith starring James McAvoy and Erin Doherty.
The lineup also features Takashi Miike's Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo starring Lily James, coming-of-age drama The Julia Set starring Chase Infiniti, Wayne Wang's Diary of a Mad Old Man, and Trudie Styler's Up Against It starring Antonio Banderas.
Previously announced titles include Love of Your Life starring Margaret Qualley, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Aaron Pierre; a feature adaptation of Prima Facie starring Cynthia Erivo; revenge thriller Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother starring Mahershala Ali; and Sian Heder's Being Heumann.
The festival aims to build on recent commercial success, after horror film Obsession premiered last year and became the highest-grossing festival acquisition in history, earning $442 million worldwide.
