A potential transfer to Portuguese side Benfica could reunite the winger with manager Marco Silva, who previously coached him during his temporary spell at Craven Cottage.
Benfica president Rui Costa commented on transfer speculation surrounding his current squad roster.
"[Schjelderup] is on holiday and will soon return to Benfica. As of today, Benfica have not received any proposal," said Rui Costa.
Arsenal remains open to parting ways with the winger before the transfer window closes.
While the club prefers a permanent sale to secure a transfer fee, club officials are also prepared to consider another loan arrangement.
