World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler made an immediate impact in his 3M Open debut, carding a bogey-free 6-under 65 in the first round at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.
The top-ranked American, coming off a tied fourth-place finish at the British Open, is seeking his second victory of the season.

Putting Prowess
Scheffler gained over three strokes on the field in putting, holing 134 feet of putts and converting six birdies.
He opened on the back nine, sinking birdie putts of 14 and 16 feet along with a critical 17-foot par save to turn at 2-under.
On the front nine, he added four more birdies, including conversions from 28, 14, and 10 feet.
“Golf’s funny.
Some days you’re hitting your lines and the line seems to be tracking toward the hole and other days it feels like you’re doing the same thing and it kind of goes around the hole,” Scheffler said.
The FedExCup leader noted the transition from links golf at the British Open to target setups at TPC Twin Cities made a difference.

“Part of playing links golf is the ball’s not going to roll true every single time.
Felt like I was just on the wrong end of that last week,” he said.
“Got here and made sure I was lined up where I thought it was and made sure I was hitting it on that line and that was about it.”
The $8.8 million event features a competitive field including defending champion Kurt Kitayama and Scottish Open winner Tom Kim.
The winner’s share is $1.584 million.
