Tropical Storm Bertha made a second landfall near the Texas-Louisiana border on Thursday, July 23, 2026, bringing sustained winds of 45 mph and heavy rain to the northwestern Gulf Coast.
The storm initially formed in the Gulf of Mexico south of Florida before grazing the Louisiana coast on Wednesday.

It came onshore roughly 75 miles northeast of Galveston, Texas.
Forecasters expect the system to break down quickly while pushing west over eastern Texas.
Bertha is expected to gradually weaken and dissipate in a day or so, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Official reports indicate no fatalities or major property damage occurred during the storm's progression along the coast.
However, weather authorities warned of isolated flash flooding, coastal storm surges of up to two feet, and perilous rip currents.

Rainfall and Coastal Threats
Rainfall totals between two to four inches were anticipated across coastal Texas and south central Louisiana, with isolated areas receiving up to six inches.
The National Weather Service alerted residents along the path about continuing coastal threats.
The storm is expected to continue to impact portions of the northwestern Gulf Coast from south central Louisiana to the upper Texas coast today.
Bertha marks the second named system of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season following Tropical Storm Arthur in June.
