A shooting near the Bite of Seattle festival at Seattle Center on Sunday evening left two people dead and four others wounded, authorities said.
Emergency crews responded to the 200 block of Thomas Street in Lower Queen Anne around 6:00 p.
m. after reports of gunfire, according to local media.
A 2-year-old child was among the injured, KUOW reported.
Panic Erupts at Food Festival
The violence caused mass panic across the 74-acre campus west of downtown Seattle, which was hosting thousands of attendees for the weekend food festival.
Witnesses near Fisher Pavilion reported hearing repeated loud booms before crowds fled. Some festivalgoers climbed over temporary fences and cement walls to escape.
Seattle Police Department officers secured the grounds and searched for a suspect. As of 7:00 p.
m. Sunday, no suspect had been identified or arrested.
Officials urged the public to avoid the Seattle Center area.
