Jamie Lee Curtis has opened up about her evolving perspective on her mother, legendary actress Janet Leigh, and her own Hollywood journey.
The Oscar-winning actress, who has enjoyed a career spanning six decades, admitted she once actively resisted following in her mother's footsteps.

"I tried to do everything not to be my mother," Curtis said in a recent interview.
Over time, her mindset shifted as she embraced their similarities. "And, of course, I'm very much like my mother in many, many ways.
My admiration for her has swelled as my disappointments have lessened," she added.
Growing Up in the Spotlight
Curtis is the daughter of Leigh and actor Tony Curtis. Her childhood was marked by public attention and household tensions, including her parents' divorce in 1962.
She previously described the atmosphere at home, saying, "My parents hated each other my whole life. I was raised in a house of hatred for the other."

Curtis also reflected on her role as a "save-the-marriage baby," noting, "And like any other save-the-marriage baby, I failed."
Despite the domestic struggles, Curtis remained close with her mother and older sister, Kelly Lee Curtis.
She collaborated professionally with Leigh on films such as 1980's "The Fog" and 1998's "Halloween: H20."
Following her sister's passing in 2026, Curtis paid tribute on social media, calling her "my first friend and lifelong confidant."
Curtis has also expressed deep admiration for her mother's beauty, writing in a Mother's Day post, "I think she was the most beautiful human I ever saw."
