Seattle police are investigating a shootout late Friday night near East Pike Street and 11th Avenue in Capitol Hill that left two bystanders injured and resulted in the recovery of more than 50 shell casings.
Patrol officers responded to reports of gunfire around 11:30 p. m.

and found a 29-year-old male bystander with multiple leg wounds and a 33-year-old female bystander shot in the ankle.
Seattle Fire medics treated the victims at nearby venues—including A Pizza Mart and Wildrose—before transporting them in stable condition to Harborview Medical Center.
Altercation Led to Crossfire
According to police and local radio updates, the conflict began as an altercation outside a local pizza bar.
Surveillance video reviewed by investigators showed a group on the southeast corner of the intersection, including a male suspect wearing a ski mask alongside up to three other individuals, opening fire on a man walking on the southwest corner.
The targeted man returned fire, causing the crossfire that struck the bystanders and damaged nearby vehicles and buildings.

Detective Brian Pritchard outlined the extensive physical evidence recovered by responding officers following the chaotic gunfire exchange.
"Several vehicles and buildings also sustained bullet damage," Pritchard wrote. "Officers collected over 50 shell casings."
Detectives from the department's specialized unit have taken over the ongoing inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the violence.
"The department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit was working to figure out what led to the shooting," he added.
The incident represents the latest major shooting in the Pike/Pine nightlife corridor following a May event outside the Cultura nightclub that sent three people to the hospital.

Despite recent incidents, overall Seattle police records show homicides fell to 11 through June compared to 16 during the same timeframe in 2025, alongside a over 20% drop in total citywide shootings.
