A father and son from Pembroke, Ontario, have claimed a $1-million ENCORE lottery prize. Michael and Brian G.

matched all seven numbers in exact order in the May 9, 2026 LOTTO 6/49 draw.

The pair regularly play the lottery together and always add the $1 ENCORE option to their tickets.

They purchased the winning ticket at Choices Plus on Pembroke Street East.

After validating the ticket, they shared the news with family members by sending a photo of the validation slip to their group chat.

"Our family members sent us photos of themselves lying on the floor because they were totally floored by the news!"

the pair said in a statement released by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).

Brian plans to use his portion of the winnings to buy a home and build a garage. Michael intends to put his share toward dental work.
