President Donald Trump has paused military strikes on Iran for a second consecutive night to allow diplomatic negotiations room to develop, US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz stated on Sunday.
The brief halt in operations follows nearly two weeks of intensive US air strikes and retaliatory exchanges that largely dismantled a previous ceasefire agreement signed in June.

Ambassador Waltz confirmed the tactical shift during a series of national television appearances detailing the administration's current approach to the regional crisis.
"Giving talks some space, he's giving it a little bit of room," said Waltz.
Despite the temporary lull in bombardment, US officials emphasized that military readiness remains intact and further actions have not been ruled out.
"I wouldn't go that far at all. The president is keeping all options on the table," Waltz added.

Addressing concerns regarding supply constraints following weeks of sustained operations, Waltz dismissed reports suggesting critical shortages were limiting military strategy.
"The US military...
has everything that it needs to conduct this campaign as effectively as it needs to be," he said.
In response to the pause in American bombardment, military authorities in Tehran announced a corresponding halt to their regional retaliatory actions.
