A gunman opened fire at the annual Bite of Seattle food festival near the Space Needle on Sunday evening, killing two people and injuring five others, including a child.

Five victims were rushed to Harborview Medical Center.

Seattle Fire Department spokesperson Grace Nunez said a 56-year-old woman remains in serious condition, while a two-year-old boy, a 23-year-old man, and a 39-year-old woman are stable.

A 40-year-old woman sustained minor injuries.

Hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg clarified that the injured suffered gunshot wounds primarily to their arms, abdomens, or legs.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson confirmed that law enforcement quickly apprehended a suspect.

"I thank the Seattle police officers who responded to the scene and took a suspect into custody," Wilson said.

The shooting disrupted the long-running festival, established in 1982, which routinely draws 350,000 visitors over three days across hundreds of food stalls, vendors, and live performances.
