Dutch Eredivisie side NEC Nijmegen has secured the signing of Serbian attacker Dusan Tadic on a two-year contract, the club confirmed on July 27, 2026.

The 37-year-old former Ajax captain will remain with the Gelderland-based club until mid-2028.

Tadic arrived in Nijmegen for a medical examination ahead of the team's upcoming Champions League qualifiers.

The deal was finalized following a personal meeting in Belgrade involving team investor Marcel Boekhoorn and head coach Dick Schreuder.

Schreuder presented his tactical vision during the discussions, convincing the experienced forward to commit to NEC.

Prior to finalizing the agreement, technical director Carlos Aalbers had described the move as an "outsider chance."

"Small," Aalbers said on Saturday evening when asked about the likelihood of Tadic joining NEC. However, negotiations progressed rapidly the following day.

Tadic spent last season with United Arab Emirates club Al-Wahda. His decision to join NEC brings extensive international experience to the squad.

During his time at Ajax, he recorded 105 goals and 112 assists in 241 appearances. He also earned over 100 caps for the Serbian national team.

NEC continues its preparations this week with a friendly match against Sevilla on Friday.

The team will then travel to face Olympiacos Piraeus in Greece on Tuesday, August 4, for their Champions League qualifying fixture.
