Ajax has reached an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare on loan, with an option to make the move permanent for €22 million, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 25-year-old forward, who stands 1.97 meters tall, began his European career at Valmiera FC in Latvia, where he scored 22 goals in 32 matches.
His performances earned him a loan to FC Köln and later a transfer to Amiens SC in France's Ligue 2.
In January 2023, Arokodare joined KRC Genk, where he scored 41 goals and provided 12 assists in 113 official matches over two and a half seasons.
He became the top scorer of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League in the 2024/25 season.
Wolverhampton purchased Arokodare for €27 million last summer, but his first season in the English Premier League was challenging, with only six goals scored.
The striker also faced disciplinary issues, including a temporary exclusion from first-team training under manager César Peixoto.

Arokodare is known for his physical strength and dynamism, capable of attacking spaces behind defenders, engaging in combination play, and acting as a hold-up player.
His work rate off the ball complements his offensive skills.

Following the departure of Wout Weghorst, Ajax sought a striker capable of fulfilling a similar role, and Arokodare fits that profile, offering multiple attacking options for the team.
