Cena underwent his first surgery in November 2024, followed by a second operation about 15 months later. The combined time spent in the operating room exceeded 20 hours.
He credited Dr. Ken Anderson of the Anderson Center for Hair in Georgia for delivering life-changing results.
The first surgery lasted 13 and a half hours, while the second took eight hours.
"The objective is to get more hair, and this was the best way to do it, talking with Ken Anderson, my doctor over there," Cena said.
"I love the guy. He's totally changed my life."
After being pleased with the initial outcome, Cena returned for a follow-up to address a small area. "I went back to him like, 'Man, you did great.
I have this one small, small, small spot. Can you do it?'"

he recalled. "He's like, 'I can.
My best results are – if you're bold enough to shave your head, I can keep the follicles.'"
Cena noted that shaving his head allowed the doctor to implant follicles more efficiently during surgery.
He has been transparent about his hair loss journey, mentioning that WWE fans drew attention to it with signs referencing his baldness.
His current routine includes red-light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, and the transplant procedure itself. His only regret is not seeking treatment earlier.
"I hate the fact that if there wasn't so much shame around it, I'd have gotten it done 10 years ago," Cena said.

He also highlighted that seven or eight out of 10 men experience thinning or baldness, hoping his openness helps reduce the stigma.
