Virginia police arrested 27-year-old Elijah Zion Bieniemy after a Sunday night shooting at an Ashburn residence left his mother hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to the scene outside Washington, D. C.
, at approximately 7:32 p. m.
ET.
Emergency responders transported Mia Bieniemy, 57, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, as reported by ESPN.
Prosecutors charged Elijah Bieniemy with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling.
He was booked into the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and remains held without bond.
Investigators stated that while the case remains open, they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
The Chiefs organization confirmed awareness of the incident involving the coordinator's family.
Eric Bieniemy had been attending the team's training camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, at the time of the shooting.
