Dutch striker Vincent Janssen has agreed to join Major League Soccer side Portland Timbers on a free transfer, following his departure from Belgian club Royal Antwerp.
The Athletic reported the move on July 27, 2026.

The 32-year-old former Netherlands international's contract with Antwerp expired this summer, ending a four-season stint where he served as captain.
He scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions last season.
Over four seasons at Antwerp under technical director Marc Overmars, Janssen registered 64 goals and 27 assists in 173 total appearances.
Janssen is brought in to reinforce Portland's attack after striker Felipe Mora left for Mexican side Atlético San Luis.
The former AZ and Tottenham Hotspur forward will not occupy a Designated Player slot.

The move marks a return to North America for Janssen, who played three seasons for Mexican club CF Monterrey between 2019 and 2022.
He scored 24 goals there and helped the team win the CONCACAF Champions League in 2021.
Janssen has long stated his ambition to play in MLS, influenced by his American-Mexican wife, with plans to reside permanently in the United States after retiring.
New Coach's First Major Signing
Janssen becomes the first major summer signing under newly appointed Portland head coach Martí Cifuentes.
At Portland, he will compete for playing time with 21-year-old Venezuelan international Kevin Kelsy, who has scored eight goals this MLS season.

Portland currently sit tenth in the MLS Western Conference standings, trailing the playoff positions by two points with 17 matches remaining.
