Eighth seed Emma Navarro will take on wild card Sofia Kenin in the first round of the 2026 Mubadala DC Open in Washington on July 27.

The tournament marks the start of the North American hardcourt swing, serving as a key 500-point tune-up ahead of events in Canada, Cincinnati, and the U.

S. Open.

Navarro enters the match with momentum, having posted a 7-3 record over her last 10 matches and winning a title in Strasbourg earlier this season.

She holds a strong 73-40 record on American hard courts and has maintained a top-30 ranking after reaching world No. 8 in 2024.

Kenin, a former world No. 4 who has dropped to No. 108, has struggled recently with a 2-8 record in her past 10 matches.

She has won only five of 22 total matches this season and has never advanced past the second round in four previous appearances in Washington.

In their only previous meeting on September 16, 2023, at the Cymbiotika San Diego Open, Kenin defeated Navarro 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in two hours and nine minutes.
