Volkswagen Motorsport in South Africa has created a one-of-a-kind Golf for hillclimb racing, packing over 1,000 horsepower.
The car made its debut over the weekend with driver Jonathan Mogotsi behind the wheel, celebrating VW's 75th anniversary in the country.

Engine and Powertrain
Under the hood, the standard EA888 2.0-liter turbo-four has been replaced by Audi's 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder.
Engineers have extensively modified the unit to produce hypercar-level power, likely using forged internals, a larger turbocharger, higher boost pressures, and a carbon fiber intake.
A custom exhaust system exits from the front bumper, a unique feature for this race-only machine.
To handle the power, the Golf features an upgraded all-wheel-drive system and AP Racing brakes.

No official power figure has been confirmed, but reports indicate over 1,000 hp.
Aerodynamics and Design
The body has been transformed with a radical front bumper, flared wheel arches, a massive rear wing, and a prominent diffuser.
While downforce numbers haven't been released, the aggressive aero package is designed to keep the car planted on hillclimb courses.
