Motorists traveling between Krimpen aan den IJssel and Capelle aan den IJssel should prepare for delays of up to one hour starting Monday, August 10.
Rijkswaterstaat will close the Algerabrug for four weeks of urgent maintenance.

Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to cross using a temporary bridge. Drivers will need to follow official detour routes.
Rijkswaterstaat has released a complete traffic plan to help commuters manage the disruption. The agency suggests working from home, cycling, or using public transport where possible.
Heavy congestion is expected around ferries connecting Krimpen aan de Lek, Bergambacht, and Schoonhoven.
Officials warned that these ferries cannot handle the extra traffic, likely leading to severe gridlock on approach roads.
Alternative Transport Options
For travelers without motor vehicles, Waterbus Line 20 will run between Rivium and Stormpolder.

It offers connections toward Rotterdam and Dordrecht, with departures every 15 minutes during morning peak hours. Bicycle transport is permitted.
The Algerabrug, built in 1958, is nearly 70 years old and is the oldest Delta Work in the Netherlands.
It carries about 47,000 vehicles, 7,600 cyclists, and many pedestrians daily, while also serving as a critical storm surge barrier for the Randstad region.
During the closure, crews will replace the bridge flap's wooden beams and steel longitudinal girders, blast and coat the steel, and lay new asphalt on the fixed bridge section.
"With this maintenance, we are ensuring that the Algerabrug remains safe and reliable for the coming years, preventing unexpected closures," said Rijkswaterstaat.
