A woman in her 60s died on July 27, 2026, after emergency services retrieved her unresponsive from a residential swimming pool on Denis-Allen Street in Saint-Anselme, Quebec.
First responders, including police officers, firefighters, and paramedics, were dispatched to the home shortly before 7 p. m.

Resuscitation efforts were performed at the scene, but responders were unable to revive her, and her death was pronounced on site.
Investigation Underway
The Sûreté du Québec launched an investigation into the cause and circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigators and forensic identification technicians were deployed to determine whether the death was caused by drowning or a prior medical emergency, while a coroner was assigned to the case.

"Resuscitation maneuvers were attempted, but unfortunately her death was confirmed on site," said Laurie Avoine, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
The incident follows a similar tragedy on June 22, when an 18-year-old woman died in a swimming pool in Lévis.

Data from the Lifesaving Society indicates that 46 drowning deaths were recorded in Quebec as of July 27, compared to 43 during the same period in 2025.
