FC Twente has officially contacted PSV Eindhoven regarding a potential summer transfer for goalkeeper Joel Drommel.

The 29-year-old shot-stopper previously played for the Enschede-based club from 2014 to 2021.

Technical director Erik ten Hag held direct discussions with Drommel on Tuesday afternoon to discuss a potential return.

Twente respectfully approached PSV to express their interest in securing the player, though no official monetary bid has been submitted yet.

Drommel is currently third in the goalkeeper hierarchy at PSV, positioning him behind Matej Kovar and Nick Olij.

Although he completed a successful loan spell at Sparta Rotterdam last season, he is permitted to depart Eindhoven during the current transfer window.

Twente's Goalkeeper Search

Twente is actively searching for a reliable goalkeeper to compete for the starting role alongside veteran keeper Lars Unnerstall.

The club's current options in goal also include 42-year-old Remko Pasveer and 26-year-old Issam El Maach.

The Enschede side previously pursued alternative options, including Kayne van Oevelen, who ultimately joined Ipswich Town from FC Volendam.

Twente also submitted two separate offers for Jeffrey de Lange, but Olympique Marseille rejected both bids. Jasper Schendelaar remains another potential candidate under consideration.

Drommel remains open to returning to Twente, where he worked under current manager John van den Brom during his previous tenure.

However, the goalkeeper is also considering potential opportunities for a move abroad before his PSV contract expires in mid-2027.

Interest in Drommel has extended to other Dutch clubs during this transfer window.

Feyenoord briefly monitored his situation without launching a formal pursuit, while NEC sought to acquire the player strictly on a loan deal.
