The Seattle Mariners face critical decisions as they approach the August 3 MLB trade deadline amid a difficult 2026 season.
The team is 52-55, trailing by 2.5 games in the American League West, with playoff hopes slipping.

Seattle's recent slump has prompted discussions about potential roster changes to inject new energy.
The Mariners have lost five of their last six games and sit third in their division.
Potential Trade Candidates
ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan noted teams have shown interest in Seattle's top prospects.
He said, "I still do believe this is going to be the best run in the history of the Seattle Mariners franchise."
Passan also suggested the Mariners might explore trading All-Star left fielder Randy Arozarena.
"I don't think that the Mariners would be crazy by any means to explore moving Randy Arozarena," Passan said.
Arozarena leads the Mariners in runs, hits, doubles, batting average, and on-base percentage, with a 138 OPS+.
His pending free agency after the season could make a trade strategic.
Other trade candidates include pitcher Luis Castillo and reliever Gabe Speier. Castillo has a 4.85 ERA and a large contract, making him the rotation's weak link.

Speier has been effective with a 1.95 ERA.
Trading Castillo could free roster space and payroll to promote younger prospects like Kade Anderson. The Mariners currently have six viable starters.
